Yes Boss, There is a Santa Clause...

yep the dreaded question was spoken at the dinner table at The Shoe! Fortunately it was at the dinner table and I could convince my 6 year old first grader that then was not the time to discuss it. She simply stated that some of her classmates don't think Santa Clause is real. I changed the subject.

Catching Up

The new job is going great! There are some growning pains this firm is suffering which make each day a challenge but I'm trying to keep in mind I'm here to do a job, not save the world. My team tried to save the world at the last firm and look what happened. We got so sick and tired of feeling like we were banging our heads up against the proverbial brick wall that we abandoned all hope and left. Now we are trying to do the best work we can for our clients and increasing that client base.

My children never cease to amaze me. Last night I had one of those moments when I truly thought I was losing my mind. Whoever thought up daylight savings time did not have small children. Before DST I was able to get up at 5:30 a.m. and have some quiet time. I would spend some time with God and then browse through the Blogging world. Since the dreaded DST, Doodlebug also now gets up at 5:30 a.m. No matter how late I put her to bed, she is up at 5:30 a.m. So, last night when I realized how much I need that 30 minutes, I vowed to move the alarm clock and get up at 5:00. This morning the alarm and the coffee went off at 5:00. I grab my book and snuggled into the couch for some me time. At 5:15 the Doodlebug was calling! How could something so cute drive you mad.

Life is all fresh and new.....

I made it to the new firm. On Monday I sat in Boywonder's office and ask "so, what do we have going on today?" just as I did each weekday morning for the past three years. It felt like coming home after a long vacation. Commissioner Gordon then joined us and we discussed a new case they had and then I was off to do research at the courthouse! Nothing like starting off a new job a month behind. I could immediately tell I have been missed and hope I made it clear to them how thankful I am that I have been brought along for the ride!
The new firm is like any different place. Some things they do are great others not so much. They are experiencing a lot of growing pains but I hope coming in on the early growth will allow our team to have some input into how this place will look in the end.
I am settling in and it was made easier by a beautiful basket of flowers sent to me by The Old Man. If I had known changes jobs is what it took to get flowers, I might have done it sooner! I think it was his way of marking his territory and it worked. A good impression was made and now all here know how lucky I am!
